Vancouver Community Food Asset Mapping Project

In 2015, I worked with a team of Vancouver Coastal Health Public Health Dietitians and UBC Land and Food Systems students to produce a pilot map of food assets available to low-income households in the City of Vancouver. This map was later developed into an internal map system for use among researchers and Vancouver Coastal Health public health dietitians and community organizations of the Vancouver Neighborhood Food Network.

The City of Vancouver, Crime Data Analysis + Map

Using data obtained from the City of Vancouver’s open data catalogue, I created a crime map that is interactive and web-based. This map represents the spatial distribution and frequency of crime events that took place in the City during the year 2007.

Stuck in the Middle

In light of Canada's PM Trudeau and the Liberal Party's ambitious pledge to expand government supported Syrian refugee numbers to 25,000 in 6 months, this infographic examines the capacity of Canada and EU countries to process asylum applications in the face of a mass exodus out of Syria.

The design is inspired by Globe and Mail visualizations.

Urban Canopy Map

I joined up with my good friend Laura Jickling to build from scratch an interactive and narrative-driven website infographic, Vancity Trees. This website has expired, though the map lives on.

For the infographic, we produced a web-based interactive map of the City of Vancouver's urban canopy using data from the City's Open Data Catalogue.

Take a closer look at the script for this map at Laura's blog.

SCH Halloween Map

In 2017, I was approached by the Society of Clinton Hill, a non-profit neighborhood organization, to make the 2017 "Halloween Walk" Map for all ages. The printable version was made using Adobe Illustrator, Google Maps, and open-sourced vector images. In addition to a printable map, I populated a digital version using Google Maps as a secondary option for participants in the program who may not be close to a Map Pick-up station or prefer a paper-less experience.
